Science fun for grown-ups – the relaxed way
Hassle-free science that fits with you
I’m a busy mum, carer & business owner, with 20+ years in science education. I know how stressful juggling life and work can be.
So I’ve created ways to make it easy for you to do fun science stuff with your kids – in your own house!
Lots of science resources are designed for the “wow” factor. But I’m here to support you.
So you (and your child!) get to focus on the fun stuff and spending quality time together – without stressing about what experiments to do, what you need or why it doesn’t look like the one in the picture.
Here’s how I can help
Which way suits you best right now?

1-2-1 With Dr Dot
A personalised, individual session with Dr Dot will get your home science adventures up & running in no time!
And for your older kids, I offer expert online Chemistry and Biology tuition.
What if I don't know any science? Can I still do this?
Yes, absolutely! Each experiment comes with a quick, clear explanation in everyday language. You will find your own science confidence progresses as well as your kids’ – an added bonus! And if you find yourself remembering bits of science you used to know, it’s easy to see why – science is all around us.
How much time does it take?
Each experiment can be done in a few minutes.
The secret’s in the prep – I break this down into easy steps that you can easily do in wee odd moments (essential for busy parents!), so nothing gets overwhelming or takes too long. But you might need to factor in time to be engrossed… I can watch bubbles gliding lazily round a Lava Lamp for ages!
What equipment do I need?
Nothing fancy or expensive required! Everyday things you’ll find in the kitchen (baking soda, vinegar, cabbage…) , around the house (balloons, string, straws…), stationery items (pens, crayons, scissors & tape…).
Anything else? Just get next time you’re at the shops, no extra trips needed. Or get creative – what else could you use instead?
Will this blow up my kitchen?
These experiments are all safe to do at home. No dangerous chemicals are involved, just common household ingredients. BUT there may be fizzing, bubbling and overflowing! And excitement!
Care needs to be taken in the usual way, eg when using scissors, a knife or boiling water etc. Relevant safety tips are clearly marked for each activity.
I do recommend adult supervision, as one of the main aims is for you & your kids to spend quality time together. You know your own child best, so you may be happy for them to try some of the activities on their own as appropriate.
I want my kids to have less screen time. How will your Online Science Club help?
Easy – the online bit is just to support YOU! All the resources, videos, guides & quizzes are in our secure online portal so you can get them any time on your phone or tablet – it’s just like having Dr Dot in your pocket.
Then you (or your kids!) collect the stuff, pick a cosy corner at home (or outside!) – and have *hands-on* science fun together. Your kids will develop personal, social and scientific skills along the way – and build lasting memories with you.
“Dr Dot has a lovely, warm engaging manner that makes me feel really at ease doing experiments as a non-scientist. I love the fact I can learn at the same time as my children! Thank you Dr Dot, you’re awesome!”
